Eli Volunteer Fire Department receives grant for new equipment

The Eli Volunteer Fire Department has some new equipment courtesy of a grant from the Kentucky Fire Commission.

The new equipment includes a cutting tool used in rescue operations, an AED device, and a multi-gas detector that helps monitor oxygen and carbon monoxide levels for firefighters along with other toxic gases.

Eli Fire Chief Marty Kazsuk told WJRS News the equipment combined has a value of around $20,000, but through the grant, the department was able to receive it at no cost.

The department just has to remain in compliance with required training and reporting to be eligible for grants like this one.
